Eco-sustainable poles for aerial Telecommunication cable support.

The problem. For aerial Telecommunication (TLC) cable lines, in most of the industrialized countries are widely used wood pole, chemically impregnated to prevent rot. The Telecom Company network in Italy consists of more than 10 million installed poles; every year more than 130.000 of these are replaced for maintenance. Similar situation is for the other countries across Europe.

Halogen Free Flame Retardant (HFFR) materials, alternative to PVC, for Cable application

In industrial Low Voltage Cable and in Building Wire, PVC has increasingly been replaced with halogen free flame retardant materials (HFFR) during the last decade because of environmental and safety reasons.

PRYSMIAN Cables & Systems Business sustainability Support

  • Context: MT Medium Voltage power cables mainly consist of cross-linked Polyethylene (XLPE) insulating material, or rubber (EPR); the cross-linking of insulating material is difficult to recycle at the end of its life. Prysmian Group has developed a new type of Medium Voltage power cable consisting of not cross-linked thermoplastic material, supposedly easier to be recycled.
  • Objective: Prysmian Group has entrusted R&D innovAction the task of evaluating:
