Distributed Sensor Network, Monitoring of Energy Consumption
- Context: The expense of electric power is increasingly important cost all types of activity; due to the fluctuation of costs, energy saving may also contribute to improve the competitiveness of a variety of business activities. Very often there is only a general overview of the total consumptions and therefore it is not possible to finalize capillary solutions. A more detailed knowledge of the consumptions inside each activity, allows identification of those most critical areas where savings can be achieved.
- Objective: Development of a capillary monitoring service of the electrical consumption in order to find the critical situations and to work out a sustainable action plan for savings achievement.
- Activities: Develop a Distributed Sensor Network infrastructure (DSN), consisting of low cost sensors and data management platform suitable to detect the consumptions and to visualize the information via WEB. Support Energy Management by identifying solutions (between the conventional and the most innovative ones on the international market) suited to the customer’s activity in order to maximize the achievable benefits with a suitable investment return.
- Results: Achieve significant savings by the customers and subsequent development of the market for this type of service mainly aimed at Business Customers.
- Cooperation: for this type of activity, R&D InnovAction is cooperating with the following companies:
- A leading company on the Italian Telecommunication field to achieve cost savings inside their own activity (TLC stations, radio base stations, offices) and to develop new energy efficiency services to be submitted to the market.
- Geothermal International Italy for the development of a monitoring service and the control of a geothermal system for a residential area.
