- Context: The Fixed Telecommunication network, TLC, installs more than 10,000,000 poles in Italy only for aerial cable support, most of them are wood treated with highly polluting chemicals such as hexavalent Chromium and Arsenic. To improve this situation a new type of pole has been developed, with reduced environmental impact, lower cost, and which supports the Green Procurement.
- Context: Every year in Europe (EU27 Countries) more than 3 million tons of end-of-life tires are generated. Unlike plastic, vulcanized rubber cannot be reprocessed and this limits the applications of recycled rubber from industrial waste and end-of-life products.
- Objectives: Innovative product development based on recycled rubber for the realization of high value-added products compared to market benchmarks.
- Context: for high performance sport footwear applications, a distinctive element of competitiveness exists in the possibility of achieving continuous advanced performance.
- Objectives: Develop new material with higher “grip on wet” in extreme conditions including ice during thaw, and wet surfaces, while still maintaining high performance in dry conditions.
- Context: The replacement of PVC with halogen free flame retardant materials (HFFR) has increased during the last decade because of environmental and safety reasons; such development is counteracted both by the higher costs of the required raw materials and by the greater difficulties in industrial processes due to significant investments of compounding plant and reduction of productivity during the extrusion.
- Context: The growing pressure on price and the availability of critical fossil derivate raw materials, together with the cable design simplification, are increasingly limiting competitiveness of cable production companies.
- Objectives: Development of Post-consumer/industrial waste re-generated Polyolefin base compound, to be used in the production of Power and Telecommunication cables.
- Activities:
- Identify raw material sources suitable for this application,
